Detroit 300 Conservancy Brings New End Of Summer “PARKtoberfest” Event To Detroit
Following the most active and successful Quicken Loans Summer in the Parks season in downtown Detroit history, there is one last chance to raise a stein to the end of summer. The inaugural, two-day PARKtoberfest in the heart of downtown’s beautiful and award-winning Campus Martius Park will feature Detroit’s own Atwater Brewery beers. Featured beers will include the seasonal Bloktoberfest, as well as specialty German Octoberfest brews and harvest wines and ciders. There will also be pumpkin carving and painting, music, dancers, games, a kidz zone, and plenty of fall food choices.
As in Munich, where the original Oktoberfest is celebrated the same weekend, the Detroit PARKtoberfest will open with the ceremonial keg tapping on Friday at noon.
The 2015 PARKtoberfest event kicks off the season of “Harvest Happenings” in downtown Detroit’s parks. This will be the first year that full-scale programming for the fall season has occurred. A full schedule for Harvest Happenings will be announced next week.
